Description

The pangolin is one of the most critically endangered species on the planet. Of their eight subspecies, only two are slightly above threatened status. As their nickname of scaly anteater suggests, they dine primarily on ants and termites, using their formidable claws to dig out the large and fortified nests to get to their meal. Their unique “scales” are made of keratin, the same foundation material that creates hair and nails. This piece is rendered in Prismacolor colored pencils, watercolors and a scratching tool to detail the texture on the scales.
